African Blacksoap vs. Marrocan Blacksoap what are the differences?

African Blacksoap vs. Marrocan Blacksoap what are the differences?

"Isn't it African Blacksoap and not Marrocan Blacksoap?"

This is the question we received frequently during the launch of our new Marrocan Blacksoap . But the Marrocan Blacksoap is a different kind of Blacksoap. In this blog we explain the differences between the two 100% natural soaps from African soil.

First the word 'Black', what does that stand for?

With the Marrocan Blacksoap, the word 'Black' comes from the black olives used to make this soap. The color of the soap is not black but dark green. In their own country (Morocco) the soap is called Sabon Beldi .
With the African Blacksoap it is due to the color of the soap itself. Officially the soap is not really black but has a light to dark brown color.

The origin of the different soaps

Marrocan Blacksoap / Sabon Beldi

The Marrocan Blacksoap is made in Morocco from sun-ripened black olives. This soap, also called Sabon Beldi , is widely used in Morocco, especially in bathhouses. The black olive soap has a neutral to earthy scent and has a thick paste-like structure.

What is this soap good for?

The combination of olives and oil has a healing and caring effect on (damaged) skin. The nourishing olive oil helps prevent dry skin and reduces wrinkles, eczema and even psoriasis.

The soap is packed with vitamins A and E, which helps against dry skin, keeps the oil your skin produces in balance and makes the skin look healthier.

African Blacksoap / Alata Samina

African Black soap (also known as Alata Samina Ose Dudu or African Black Soap) is made from plantain sheets mixed with cocoa husk ash and bark from the Kerité (Shea) tree.

What is this soap good for?

It is good for all types of skin types including older skin as it contains no chemicals. It can even be used for children. It can be used for the face, body and hair. This soap is also a natural source of vitamins A, E and even contains iron.

What are the differences in the use of both soaps?

What we have noticed ourselves is that the African Blacksoap is a soap that thoroughly cleanses the skin and that the Marrocan Blacksoap has a more nourishing effect.
While the skin feels dry after using the African Blacksoap , it does not feel that way with the Marrocan Blacksoap . This is due to the olive oil in the soap that nourishes the skin.

After using the African Blacksoap, it is therefore highly recommended to rub the skin thoroughly with butter or oil.

Did you know that these two soaps work very well together? In general, you use the African Blacksoap as a deep cleansing soap and use it every 2 to 3 days. The Marrocan Blacksoap is a nourishing soap that you can use every day. So that means that you can nourish your skin five days a week and give your skin a deep cleanse every three days.

And now the question for you, which soap will be your favorite?
